project management LEADERSHIP award

Project Management Leadership Award — presented to the organization that has demonstrated industry leadership, worked with CSC to implement project management best practices to solve a particular business need in an innovative manner, and set an example for the industry.

Winner

Company: Safeway

Project Title: Safeway Project Management
Project Description: Project Management Leadership is the most difficult category to write a nomination for. The reason is simple. The project team at Safeway is truly a dream team. The team faced many tough deadlines and hardships due to staff changes but is on track, even ahead of schedule, directly due to the profound inspiration from both Safeway and CSC project management. This is supposed to be an award for CSC’s customer base, but you cannot acknowledge Safeway project management without acknowledging CSC project management as well. The Safeway RISKMASTER X implementation project would not be happening if it weren’t for Cindy Hunter from Safeway and Annette Smyth from CSC. They have had to be more than innovative to accomplish the challenge of milestones being pushed ahead, contract constraints and the retirement of the original project owner. The success of this project is a testament to the resiliency and professionalism exhibited by the project managers.

Honorable Mention

Company: Chubb Services Corporation

Project Title: Starr Phase 2 TPA Automation Project
Project Description: Chubb Services worked in partnership with CSC and other involved organizations to coordinate and implement Project Management best practices that contributed to the project success. Chubb Services initiated and pro-actively conducted weekly executive meetings, periodic risk analysis, iterative project effort and timeline budget reviews into future. The company also defined a common area for issue tracking and resolution between all involved parties and added a sunset review to aid future improvements.

Company: MetLife Auto & Home

Project Title: MetLife Project Management
Project Description: Acknowledging that the payment of legal bills is a function better served by a clerical or administrative individual than a litigation handler, MetLife Auto & Home partnered with CSC to develop a procedure to facilitate faster, more efficient and accurate bill payment utilizing Legal Bill Analyzer, Legal Matter Manager and MetLife Auto & Home’s paperless system. The first step was to have Legal Matter Manager (which captures symbol and suffix codes in its litigation page), prepopulate information onto post audit invoices in Legal Bill Analyzer. A new header field for invoices was developed to accept this information. Next, MetLife Auto & Home developed a paperless mailbox for litigation invoices to accept finalized/audited invoices which are swept by Legal Solutions Suite into the paperless mailbox and funneled to payment processors who now have the information available to them to make accurate payment. Payment processors may work in virtual offices and still access the payment mailbox.
